Yale Commencement 2021

President Salovey announced on March 15 that the university will celebrate all graduates in May through in-person gatherings if public health conditions permit. You can read his full message here.

We regret that we cannot welcome any guests to campus, even those who have been vaccinated. All in-person ceremonies will be limited to graduating students only. Graduates’ families and friends are invited to participate virtually using the new Yale 2021 website. Content including videos, articles, photographs, social media, and a listing of graduates will launch on May 20.

Registration for Remote/Not in Residence Graduates

If you are currently not in residence at Yale and intend to return to campus to participate in your ceremony, you must complete the Commencement 2021 Public Health Registration for Remote or Non-Resident Students. This registration is required for all remote or non-resident undergraduate, graduate, and professional students invited to participate in Commencement 2021, and is encouraged for all students participating in Commencement 2021.

Some schools have asked both remote and in-residence students participating in their ceremony to register using this form and have shared this information directly with students. If you have questions about whether or not you should use the form, please be in touch directly with your school.

Class of 2020 Plans and Class of 2021 Schedule

Class of 2020 Return to Campus

We are delighted to announce that 2020 graduates will be invited to return to campus with family and friends May 13 -15, 2022. A traditional university ceremony will take place on Old Campus on Saturday morning, May 14, 2022. More details will follow from the university and from your school later this summer.

Class of 2021 Schedule

Ceremonies—open to graduating students only, with no guests permitted—will be organized by Yale’s schools May 21-24.

President Salovey’s remarks to students and official conferral of student and honorary degrees will be shared virtually beginning at 10:00 a.m. on the Yale 2021 website.
