Frequently Asked Questions about the Class of 2020

Will Commencement 2020 be rescheduled?

We will celebrate our graduates in May through alternative, primarily web-based activities and are exploring opportunities to gather together at later dates.

On-Campus Housing

All existing on-campus housing reservations will be refunded in full. If you have reserved on-campus housing, you should cancel your reservation by either logging back into the registration system and clicking the unregister button on the confirmation page or by emailing housing.commencement@yale.edu. We will process your refund as soon as we are able given current circumstances and through your original form of payment.

Off-Campus Accommodations

If you have made a reservation at a local hotel, please contact the hotel directly and indicate Yale has cancelled the May ceremony.

Cap and Gown Orders

If your student has already placed an order for their cap and gown, a refund will be made through the original form of payment.

Notice of Cancellation

Please contact the Commencement Office for a notice of cancellation if it is required to cancel your travel.

We are working with the University Registrar to confirm the diploma distribution process. Students will be updated as soon as possible.
