The following message has been updated on April 2, 2024 to assist students on how to register for commencement guest tickets successfully.
Dear Members of the Class of 2024,
Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!
This email explains how to obtain guest tickets for the University Commencement ceremony, which will take place on Monday, May 20, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Old Campus.
Every guest must have an electronic ticket to enter Old Campus for the ceremony. Guests without tickets will be able to watch the livestream from locations that will be announced later.
Each Yale College graduate is entitled to four (4) electronic guest tickets.
Each Graduate and Professional School graduate is entitled to two (2) electronic guest tickets.
Please watch your email for a message from university.events@yale.edu. It will have a link that will enable you to request tickets and make any necessary modifications to your registration. Registration will remain open until April 15.
When registering, you will be prompted to create a password. This password will enable you to request your allotted guest tickets and make modifications until April 15th. Required information includes your name, email address, Yale NetID, residential college, and any accessibility requirements for your guests.
After entering your information, you will be directed to the next page to continue the registration process to register your guests. Click the “Add Another Person” button to begin. You can register up to your allotted number of guests.
If you have started registering but have not added any guests, please sign back into your registration, and include them.
When registering, the form will ask your guest’s name and email address. The form will also ask for a Net ID. Students must add their NetID in the box as it is an identifier for data purposes. Guests do not need a NetID to attend the university commencement ceremony.
By providing your guest’s full name and email addresses, you will be able to have tickets sent directly to them. If you do not know which of your guests will attend the university ceremony or prefer not to have your tickets sent to them directly, enter your information on the form again to receive a confirmation for your tickets to be distributed as you like.
Also, please select the appropriate guest type based on your status when registering.

Accessibility Seating:
During registration, please be sure to indicate if any of your guests require accessible seating. Guests with accessibility seating tickets and their accompanying family members will use the specially marked gate on High Street to enter Old Campus. Guests registered for accessible seating will receive information on accessing the area.
Additional Tickets:
After April 15th, any unclaimed tickets will be distributed via lottery. Those selected in the lottery will receive one (1) extra ticket. When you register for your guest tickets, please indicate if you would like to be included in the lottery.
There is no cost associated with registering for Commencement guest tickets. Selling or purchasing tickets is strictly prohibited.
