Commencement 2018

Yale 317th Commencement will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018. Monday’s ceremony marks the occasion at which all university degrees are formally conferred on the university’s historic Old Campus.

For Yale College, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and the professional schools, Monday’s University Commencement is preceded and followed by celebratory events and activities specific to each school. These events usually take place on the Saturday and Sunday before Commencement. In addition, a host of other performances and events are offered on campus throughout the weekend.

For a sense of what Commencement weekend entails, please visit the 2017 Calendar of Events, since many of the listed activities remain the same from year to year, including diploma ceremonies, luncheons, musical performances and Baccalaureate and Class Day for Yale College.

Information about Commencement 2018 and the weekend will begin being distributed to families of Yale College seniors in November 2017. Graduate and professional schools will also begin communicating with their students about Commencement weekend in the fall. This website will be updated with Commencement 2018 information beginning in Fall 2017 and continuing into Spring 2018, as individual schools solidify their plans for school-specific events.

On-campus housing reservations for 2018 will begin being taken from this site in November 2017, following communication with families. The Accommodations page provides good background information regarding arrangements and cost, which may increase slightly.
